February Newsletter

February is a short month but one pack full of learning! Children have enjoyed the outdoor times in January. Our focus was Bears and Penguins, but we had a little discussion about other Arctic animals as well. We read lots of books about Penguins ad Polar Bears and their habitat. Our practice using scissors is going well and we will continue to do the same.

In February, we will focus on sharing, caring, love and friendship. It is National Children’s Dental Health Month, so we will begin introducing our students to health and nutrition which will play a greater role in the upcoming months.

We have Valentine’s Day party on Feb 14 & 15. For our Valentine’s day party, we will do fun activities and dance. Children can wear Red, pink or any of their favorite outfit. Children can make cards for their friends. Please do not put names of individual children on the card. It would be great if your child can just right his/her name on the card. It will be a good practice as they will write their name by themselves.

This is the time of the year when many of our Pre-K families make decisions about kindergarten. If your child has a late birthday or you have any questions or concerns about your child’s readiness, please make a point of talking to teachers.

Art and Craft- We will be doing an activity on how to brush our teeth properly. Our Valentine curriculum will feature many art explorations using theme colors and heart shapes to decorate our classroom.

For a multicultural focus we are going to incorporate some Chinese New Year activities as well.
