May Newsletter

April was an action-packed month at Discovery time, and we can’t believe how fast time is flying! We have learned about plants and its parts and it was exciting to do some planting as well. Little Kickers field trip was the best part of April fun! The children had lot of fun and learning in this field trip.

May should be equally as fun and busy at the preschool. We are looking forward to learning all about bugs, caterpillars, and butterflies.

The letters of this month are X, Y and Z. Each week a new letter will be introduced, and all the letters will be reviewed at the end of the month. The bugs will give us opportunities to count and sort. We will continue to learn the shapes and will be sorting bugs by size. We will learn about the lifecycle of the bugs that we find in the garden. In order to work on our fine motor skills, the children will continue doing cutting and pasting, sorting items with squeezy tweezers and many more.

The end of the year is coming quick and to write our name without tracing is a huge milestone and we need to master this before entering the kindergarten. If you would like a copy of your child’s name tracing sheet to work at home, please let us know and we can always make a copy for you.

Mental Health week May 3rd-9th

Hats on for mental health is on Wednesday. On Wednesday/Thursday May 4 and 5 You get to wear a hat in support of mental health awareness. We will also make a hat at school to raise the awareness.

As the weather is beautiful now so we love spending more time outside. Please make sure your child has hat and water bottle for outside. It will be a great idea to apply sunscreen before your children come to school because it works for few hours and it can save our time for other activities.

Registration for 2022-23

We are still accepting registrations for next year. If you have friends with children ages 3-5 who have not yet registered for a preschool or pre-K program, encourage them to do it soon! We have all our schedule and fee information on the website at www.discovertime.ca

Thank you as always for your continued support and communication as we strive to provide the most caring, safe and fun environment possible for your children! Happy Mother’s Day!
